Courses

The college offers both Honours Course (HC) and Regular Course (RC) under the undergraduate level. The courses are designed by Gauhati University under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)

Gauhati University introduced CBCS from the academic session 2019–20. Based on UGC guidelines, courses are categorized into Core Course, Elective Course, and Ability Enhancement Courses.

A Degree Programme with Honours requires 148 credits, while a Regular Programme requires 132 credits.

Core Course (CC)

Core Courses are compulsory. Honours students complete 14 CC papers while Regular students complete 12 CC papers. Each Core Course carries 6 credits.

Students may choose Elective Courses offered by the college:

(1) Discipline Specific Elective (DSE)
(2) Generic Elective (GE)

Ability Enhancement Course (AEC)

AEC includes:

(1) Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course (AECC) – 4 credits
(2) Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) – 4 credits

The course is skill-based and designed by Gauhati University.

Scholarship

Scholarships are available for SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, Minority, and meritorious students as per government rules.
