Named after Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha — mentor of culture and father of socio-economic revolution in Assam — this college has emerged as the only institution imparting quality higher education to thousands of students from tribal and non-tribal communities of the undivided Darrang district.
A higher educational institution was set up in the heart of Orang Chariali in 1990 after the name of renowned Bishnu Prasad Rabha — the mentor of culture and father of socio-economic revolution in Assam — by some of the economically weak but ever conscious and far-sighted people of Orang area with the help of public donation.
The college has emerged as the only institution imparting quality higher education to thousands of students belonging to different caste and communities — especially the tribal and non-tribals covering the vast area of the undivided Darrang district — despite several economical and social hazards. Over the years the college is rendering valuable service in the field of education to the poor and needy students as the area it covers is mostly economically backward.
The college is provincialized by the Government of Assam with effect from 01-01-2021 and accredited with B-Grade in its First Cycle of Accreditation by NAAC after successful Peer Team visit on 10th & 11th October 2023.
